You can compare research-intensive degrees with applied programmes. Belgium’s language communities organise higher education separately, so fees and admission rules need a regional check.
Study in Belgium
Research universities and applied courses, with student communities across Dutch- and French-speaking regions.
Why students choose Belgium
English-taught master’s options span engineering, business, biomedical research and European affairs. Undergraduate language requirements deserve an early look.
Leuven, Ghent and Brussels offer distinct campus experiences within a compact country. Dutch or French can widen the range of local internships and jobs.

When can you start?
September is the usual academic-year start in Flanders. Selected programmes may accept another start, but spring entry is not universal. International admission and scholarship deadlines can be much earlier than enrolment.
Start dates vary by programme.
Tuition & living costs
Study in Flanders publishes EUR 800–1,000 per month for Flanders and Brussels, checked 1 October 2026. Actual housing can exceed the guide. The 2026/27 student-visa solvency minimum is separately EUR 1,062 monthly, so the living estimate is not sufficient evidence for a visa.
Part-time work & careers
Usually 20 hours / week in term
For eligible non-EEA students, work during the academic year is limited to 20 hours weekly and must fit around studies. More work is possible in official holidays under the applicable residence conditions. Check your permit, contract and institution’s holiday dates before accepting shifts.
After your degree
Eligible non-EEA graduates can apply for a 12-month orientation year to look for work or start a business. The permit is not extendable; degree, residence, insurance, financial evidence and application timing requirements apply.
