Why students choose Czech Republic

Czech-language study at public and state universities can be tuition-free regardless of nationality. This requires the relevant Czech proficiency; English-taught study follows different fees.

Prague and Brno offer substantial course choices, while smaller university cities can suit students seeking a quieter setting.

English-language programmes include computing, engineering, business and health fields. Confirm recognition and professional licensing before choosing a clinical degree.

Intakes & start dates

The winter semester usually begins in September or October; the summer semester begins in February. New-degree entry is commonly in autumn and depends on the faculty. Check the course’s application window rather than treating both semesters as guaranteed intakes.

Start dates vary by programme.

What these tuition figures coverThe current national guide places most English and other foreign-language degree programmes within EUR 0–6,000 a year. This is a typical programme range, not a country-wide average or a maximum: medicine, arts and some specialist fields commonly cost EUR 8,000–25,000 a year. The guide does not publish separate bachelor’s and master’s averages. Public and state degrees taught in Czech are normally tuition-free for all nationalities, with language proficiency and other fees to consider; private institutions set their own charges.
Typical living reference / month · EUR €500–€800 Housing and daily expenses depend on the city and your choices.

The current national student guide suggests EUR 500–800 per month for basic living costs with a dormitory or shared accommodation. Private flats, Prague and Brno may require more. EUR is used for planning comparison; everyday spending is in Czech koruna (CZK).

Part-time work & careers

Eligible full-time students: permit exemption

Non-EU students enrolled full-time in an accredited university degree can generally work without a separate employment permit; employers must meet reporting obligations. Study remains the primary purpose of residence. Contract-specific working limits still apply, so this exemption is not an unrestricted-hours promise.

After your degree

Qualifying graduates can apply for a residence permit to seek employment or start a business for up to nine months. This route cannot be extended; recognised study, current residence and financial and insurance conditions must be met.
